YOUR WEARING A JOCK AND SHIN PADS

Our dojo in simple little old steel manufacturing city of Hamilton Ontario Canada was not unlike many around the world but all these Dojo Stories are 100% true for those of you who want to relive the past or want to wake up and it is March 15th 1967.

Our dojo was on the top floor of a 3 story building and it had 22 foot ceilings in it.

It was one of those where the ice formed on the inside of the windows in the winter and kept in all the heat in the summer.

I remember one day hearing laughter coming out of the change room and one of the best fighters in all of Canada came out red in the face saying something under his breath. It seems that all the rest of the guys who had come from Toronto to train that night were laughing at him because he was actually wearing a jock and shin pads.

Of course he was deemed a suck right away ..... that was of course until he kicked them in the head with his spectacular round house kick. Then they stopped laughing for sure.

You see this was years before Safety Equipment came about and there were so very few women or children in the dojo guys like me who were 17 or 18 were rare as well as usually the guys were in there mid 20's or early 30's.

This dojo had stories upon stories. Hope up enjoy them.
