UFC 199
UFC 199
I went to see the UFC 199 last night. We sat 6 rows from the ring thanks to my good friend Kent Moyer (World Protection Group). Except for a couple of fights it was quite boring to me. Dan Henderson was terrific and is a true warrior and the same for Bispring and Rockford another great match. His reverse elbow strike to the head of his opponent was terrific and ended the fight and this guy is 45 years old. Still a young pup to guys like me but in the Octagon he is an old man.
The best part of it though was the tribute they paid to Muhammid Ali throughout the night on the big screen. I can still remember sitting on the steps of Millen's Grocery store in Stoney Creek and listening to the fight of he and Sonny Liston on my brand new transistor radio with my friends while across the street upstairs there was a karate class going on and guys were yelling and screaming and sparring that was my first introduction to karate and then soon after I joined a class in Hamilton as that club had gone broke.
But back to the UFC 199. Thanks to Kent Moyer and my new friend from the Shaolin Temple Shi Yanti we had a terrific evening watching. The crowd was wild as usual and in some ways the best part of the show.
Already looking forward to watching for sure not participating in any of these types of fights as these guys are truly the professionals in our art of fighting.
