“He started Jiu Jitsu in Germany in 1906”
Eric Rahn was a pioneer of Jui Jitsu and Judo in Europe he opened one of the first schools of martial arts in all of Europe in 1906 in Berlin. In 1910 he introduced Jui Jitsu to the Berlin Police department and then in 1913 he began teaching the military gymnastics institute in Berlin. In 1922 he hosted the first German Jui Jitsu Championships. He retired from competition at the age of 40.
His father had introduced him to many Japanese Masters and eventually he became a student of Higashi Sensei and even quit his job and devoted his life to learning and teaching Jui Jitsu.
After WW1 he began teaching Jui Jitsu outside of the Berlin area, he eventually introduced Ju Jitsu on the vaudeville stage in Europe where they demonstrated Jui Jitsu to the audience.
